SYRACUSE, NY – Drummondville, Quebec’s Alex Bergeron once again proved why he is the name the makes the most headlines and collects the most wins in iRacing. Sunday afternoon, he retook the lead from Bryce Bailey shortly after midway to win the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints King of the Quarantine Nationals 40 lap A-Main held at the virtual Knoxville Raceway.
The win was Bergeron’s second in the three race King of the Quarantine Series. He took home $170 for the effort which included a $50 bounty from Dirt Track Digest.
“I was running a little conservative there on the top when I got passed by Bryce (Bailey). I knew I would have to change my line to get the lead back and found the bottom to be pretty good,” Bergeron said on the pass that propelled him to the win, “The track was a little tricky so you had to search for a line but it all worked out.”
Bailey took the lead from Bergeron on lap 23 and held it right up until a lap 29 caution when Bergeron pulled a slide job going into turn three to retake the top spot. When the yellow lights shined timing and scoring confirmed that Bergeron was the leader.
“I wished that yellow didn’t come out,” quipped Bailey, “We (him and Bergeron) was having a good race and I think I had a shot to pull off the win. But, he got a good restart and found the bottom. That’s where he is so good.”
On the restart a third starting Rylin Turley actually passed both Bailey and Bergeron to inch ahead at one point only to have Bergeron gain control and then start to open up a slight distance in the closing laps.
When the checkers were displayed it was Bergeron the winner over Bailey. The two drivers finished in the top three in all three Quarantine events showing their iRacing skills. Canadian Kevin Loveys made a powerful late race charge to collect third ahead of Adam Buchanan and Turley.
Rounding out the top ten were Lucas Oil ESS chauffeur Jordan Poirier, North Carolina’s Jake Karklin, Brandon Planck, DIRT modified star Chris Hile and Connor Ross who earned the hard charger bonus after starting in 24th.
Heat wins went to Bergeron, Mike Mahaney, Bailey and Buchanan. Sam Reakes won the C-Main with Central Pa. Posse star Troy Wagaman Jr. taking the 15 lap B-Main.
This marks the end of the ESS iRacing series for the spring of 2020. It was announced that a 10 race iRacing Series will debut in the fall of 2020 with the Sign Shop at Kinney’s already signed on as the tour sponsor for the Lucas Oil ESS’ next iRacing Tour.

SYRACUSE, NY – With the success of the first King of the Quarantine 40 iRacing event for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS), the second running of the event will be this Sunday, April 19th at 5PM. The event will be run on the virtual Dirt Track a Charlotte Motor Speedway, the home of the World Finals.
Drummondville, Quebec’s Alex Bergeron just edged Jake Karklin and Bryce Bailey in the first event held at the Eldora Speedway. Bergeron, who is the defending World of Outlaws iRacing Champion, took home $95 from the $375 purse that was offered.
The first event pitted iRacing stars against ESS stars and other motorsports personalities and drivers. 2019 ESS champion Paulie Colagiovanni was in the field as was Billy VanInwegen, Jordan Poirier, Brett Wright, Kelly Hebing, Sammy Reakes IV and others.
This Sunday’s field has been increased by 10 more entrants and with some big names in local dirt track racing at the ready such as Brent Marks, Larry Wight, Davie Franek, Jimmy Phelps, Chris Hile and Ryan Harrison from the United Kingdom.
The second running of the King or the Quarantine 40 has a $500 purse with $100 going to the winner. The top seven finishers in the 40 lap A-Main will receive money as well as many other special bonuses. There will be one final event on April 26th which will be the King of the Quarantine Nationals held at the famed Knoxville Raceway.
Information of how fans can view will be released in the next few days. In the first telecast was watched live by over 400 people and now has been viewed by over 2,000. Adding spice to the live event was the voice of ESS, Mike Mallett.

SYRACUSE, NY – Since 2009, one of the staples of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) is the Cobra Coaches Dash Series point fund. The top ten in dash points totaled throughout the season will share from the point fund at the annual awards banquet.
In most full point ESS events, the drivers that either finish in fifth and sixth (where there’s three heats) or fourth (where there’s four heats) got to a four-lap dash. The dash will be sponsored by a local business where it will award the winner either $125 or $100. Each position is paid, sets up starting positions for the A-Main and also awards points for those finishes.
The points are tallied up throughout the year and then the final point standings are set where the point fund from Cobra Coaches is then handed out. With the unique set up for the dash entries, it also helps spread the wealth to different drivers during the night and year.
Drivers such as Shawn Donath, Parker Evans, Dave Axton and Paul Kinney have collected dash championships over the years since the new format. Also, in banquet tradition, Chuck Hebing has been known to give a snake-skinned gift to the winner.
Hebing, a former ESS champion is the owner of Cobra Coaches. His craftmanship is seen throughout the ESS pit area with haulers and trailers built from his shop. Teams such has Jason Barney, Steve Poirier, Jeff Cook, Alex Vigneault and others travel down the road with the Cobra Coaches logo on their haulers.

SYRACUSE, NY – It is billed as the 34th Annual Syracuse Motorsports Expo. For each and every event, the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) is proud to be a part of the show which started back in 1986. The 360 sprint car organization is celebrating its 37th Annual Tour and the Expo is always the official kick off to each year.
In the ESS area will be four top sprint cars that will be busy chasing the checkered flag in 2020. Highlighting the booth is the 2019 Lucas Oil champion and the familiar #10 winged machine of Paulie Colagiovanni. The Cicero, NY star set a new standard by being the youngest champion ever in the ESS ranks at the age of 18.
In keeping with the theme of award winners for 2019 finds the cars of Lane’s Yamaha Rookie of the Year Tyler Cartier and Most Improved driver Denny Peebles. Cartier came up from the 305 ranks and despite some tough times with mechanical woes the team kept running the events and the Rookie of the Year title was a nice capping to the year. For Peebles, he went from a driver that was happy to qualify to now a contender to pick up his first ever ESS checkered in any event that he enters.
The fourth winged sprint car will be Steve Hutchinson Jr’s #2. The young driver has been dabbing at a few ESS events each year but looks to increase that by attending many races for 2020. His East Coast Sealcoat business is also sponsoring the dash during the opening event at the Fulton Speedway on April 24th.
The new 2020 line of merchandise from ASI Racewear will be available with two sharp designs and several colors to choose from. Both tees and hoodies will be in stock. Also, new embroidered hats from Finish Line Designs are in, stop by and pick up your ESS swag!!
Schedule cards from LC Design will be ready to be picked up and brought home. The 2020 Tour starts in April in Fulton and ends in October at Outlaw. Fans will get to see the stars and cars that pilot the ESS winged machines all throughout the Northeast and Canada.
