DANNY VARIN MAKES IT THREE IN A ROW AT FONDA TO STAY UNDEFEATED TO START THE SEASON
Fonda, NY – Coming into last Saturday night’s race at Fonda, Danny Varin had won the last four Empire Super Sprints A Mains at the Track of Champions. His quest to win a fifth straight A Main will be one that all fans in attendance will not forget. After suffering some collateral damage to his car during a lap one mishap, Varin pitted and joined the field at the back of the pack. Pole sitter Steve Glover and Jason Barney led the field to green with Barney jumping out to a 6 car length lead in the first few laps. With halfway in sight, Barney led with Paulie Colagiovanni, Chuck Hebing, Jordan Poirier and Josh Pieniazek in sight of Barney. Varin was working his way through the field, gaining ground on the top five each lap and halfway through the race was challenging for sixth. Just after halfway, Jordan Poirier and Paulie Colagiovanni began to flex their muscle, getting by Barney and turning a few laps out in front of the field. But while the leaders were dealing with lapped traffic, Varin was gaining quickly and eventually took the lead with less than 5 laps to go and was threatened from that point. Varin took the win, his third straight ESS victory to start the year, followed by strong runs by Jordan Poirier and Pualie Colagiovanni. Josh Pieniazek’s first race of the year saw him bring it home in fourth and Jason Barney rounded out the top five. Sixth through ten were Chuck Hebing, Jeff Trombley, Steve Glover, Joe Trenca and Mike Kiser. Heat winners were Joe Kata, Brett Wright and Jordan Poirier while Danny Varin, Paulie Colagiovanni and Jason Barney took the fast time awards.
The next two Empire Super Sprint races are set for Friday, May 27th at Brewerton Speedway and Saturday, May 28th at Fulton Speedway. Hope to see you there !!
