SYRACUSE, NY –  It was a tradition for many years and in 2018 for the 35^th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) the Memorial Weekend stop of Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedways are back. Both events will pay $2,000 to win and $300 to start with the Fonda event the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial.

Both tracks have been a Saturday and Sunday night staple in upstate New York for decades and the invasion of the ESS winged warriors will add spice to their already exciting weekly programs. 

Fans will get to see E3 Spark Plugs Timed Hot Laps, Car Mate Trailers heat events, Lacaillade Masonry B-Main all leading up to the 25 Lap, Mach 1 Chassis sponsored A-Main. The Cobra Coaches Dash events will be sponsored by Marty Beberwyck and Ric Lucia at Fonda with a $500 purse and at Utica-Rome Prestige Pool and Spa backed the four lap event.

Jason Barney has finished on the podium in the first three events and comes in as the point leader over Coleman Gulick, Paul Kinney, Jonathan Preston with Matt Tanner rounding out the top five. Other teams that will be in the field on both nights include Billy VanInwegen, Matt Billings, Paulie Colagiovanni, Mike Mahaney, Danny Varin, Chad Miller, Brett Wright, Dalton Herrick Parker Evans, Shawn Donath, Dave Axton, Denny Peebles, Jeff Cook, Kelly and Chuck Hebing, Pete Richardson and more!

Points will be awarded for the overall Lucas Oil ESS Championship, the NAPA Auto Parts US Tour and with the Thunder Mountain rainout the first two events on the E&V Energy I90/I81 Series.

The tradition of excitement guaranteed has continued for over 35 years and with Fonda and Utica-Rome back to back, we bring back the tradition excitement of the Memorial Day Weekend!
