By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | Jordan Poirier has been close to victory lane many times throughout the 2026 season, and finally put it all together on Friday at the Fulton Speedway. Coming into the night, the Quebec driver had 13 top five finishes, and he added a win to those stats by picking up the $2,000 check on the final points-paying night of the season.
Jordan Thomas led the field to green along side of Paulie Colagiovanni. Thomas grabbed the lead early, but Colagiovanni got a run off turn two and immediately took control of the field. Jordan Poirier wasted no time moving forward, also getting by Thomas for second on lap two.
Colagiovanni would open up a half straightaway lead over Poirier and Thomas. Behind the top three, Jordan Hutton had worked his way to fourth using the extreme high side of the speedway.
On lap 13, Poirier had caught Colagiovanni, and the race for the lead was on. A slide job attempt in turn two was unsuccessful, but two laps later lap traffic would hold up Colagiovanni. Poirier took the opportunity using the low lane off turn four to take the lead.
Poirier immediately opened up a lead of over one second over Colagiovanni. As Poirier continued to drive away, Danny Varin had worked his way through the field and slid Colagiovanni for second with a handful of laps remaining.
Out front, Poirier was out for a Sunday drive, and picked up his first Empire Super Spritns victory of 2026.
“It feels good – a little late but I’ll take it,” said Poirier in victory lane. “We’ve been struggling all year long, we’ve been testing stuff. It feels good to finally win one here.”
“I think it’s been ten years since on the last one here. Our GSR chassis was just on rails.”
Danny Varin came home second, while Paulie Colagiovanni rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Zach Sobotka picked up the season points championship, a massive feat considering it was just his first year following the entire ESS schedule.
With 27 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Chris Hulsizer, Dylan Swiernik and Jordan Poirier. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Dalton Rombough, Paulie Colagiovanni and Alex Therrien. Jason Barney picked up the Donath Motor Worx dash presented by East Coast Sealcoat, and Chad Phelps won the B-Main.
There is just one race remaining on the Empire Super Sprints schedule for 2026 – the Hoag Memorial at the Outlaw Speedway on Friday October 16. The event is a non-points race that will pay $4,000 to win. By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | A champion is set to be decided this weekend for the Empire Super Sprints at the Fulton Speedway. A long season culminates with the points finale this Friday as part of the Outlaw 200 weekend, with the winner of the event receiving $2,000.
Zach Sobotka heads into the event with the point lead over Jordan Poirier. The margin between Sobotka and the defending champion is 82 points. While the two are identical in top five finishes, Sobotka’s margin comes from three wins versus Poirier’s winless season thus far, and 19 top tens versus Poirier’s 17 top ten finishes.
Behind the lead duo, Davie Franek sits third in points just 31 markers back, with already-crowned 2026 Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour champion Jordan Thomas in fourth. Matt Tanner rounds out the top five.
In the only stop at the Fulton Speedway so far this season it was Larry Wight in victory lane. With two rain outs this season at the Oswego County oval, it is unusual for the tour to have only made one appearance at the track by the season ending event.
Fulton has been the host of 94 Empire Super Sprints events, dating back to August of 1983. In those 94 events, there have been 35 different drivers to earn an A-Main win. Of the top three in points, just Davie Franek (2022, 2024) and Jordan Poirier (2018) have won at the highbanks.
Admission prices and gate times for Friday’s event, along with a nightly schedule of events can be found on both the Fulton Speedway website and social media pages, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. In the event of weather on Friday, Saturday is a listed rain date for the season points finale.

By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | For the first time in over two years, Jared Zimbardi found himself in victory lane Friday night at the Outlaw Speedway. After chasing Davie Franek down through the midpoint of the race, Zimbardi took the lead with 7 laps to go and didn’t look back, scoring $4,011 in the process.
Denny Peebles and Shawn Donath led the field to green for 25 laps, with Peebles taking the lead over Donath and Davie Franek on lap one. Franek made quick work of Donath, and by lap six he passed Peebles for the lead.
As the field reached lap traffic, an incident on the front stretch collected three of the top five, with Peebles, Donath and Dylan Swiernik all involved.
When action resumed, Franek again jumped out to the lead. Jason Barney got by Jared Zimbardi, for second, with Zimbardi falling into line in third.
Zimbardi quickly got back by Barney for the runner-up position, and then set his sights on Franek. By lap 15, he had caught the leader, and on lap 16 took the lead.
Zimbardi initially extended the gap between himself and Franek, though in the closing stages Franek was able to cut into his lead.
With Zimbardi successfully navigating lap traffic, Franek was unable to get back by and ‘The Juice’ held on for his first win since 2024.
“This one feels good,” said Zimbardi in victory lane. “I’ve just been struggling for a while. I just kept digging, didn’t give up hope. We’ve got different shocks on tonight.”
“It’s actually something we did a long time ago with the right rear shock and we won a lot of races with it. We did it tonight and it was fast.”
Davie Franek held on for second, continuing his streak of good finishes at Outlaw.
“After the red, I don’t know what was going on there, the tire sealed over or something,” said Franek. “He (Zimbardi) was good, he was going to get us either way. We were kind of getting back to him in lap traffic, but out in clean air he was definitely better.”
Matt Farnham rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third.
“The car was really good, it was fast early on in the night,” said Farnham. “We got lucky a couple of times missing the wreck on the front straightaway. On that restart, we lost a couple of spots but was able to get them back and have a good run here tonight.”

By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | As the 2026 season winds down, there are just two points-paying events left on the Empire Super Sprints calendar. The first one comes this Friday at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the annual Outlaw Fall Nationals.
Paying $4,011 to win and $300, the Outlaw Fall Nationals is always one of the biggest shows of the season. In two previous visits to the Dundee oval in 2026, Davie Franek (July) and Jordan Hutton (April) came out victorious. It was Hutton’s first 360 sprint car win, and Franek’s fourth ESS win at Outlaw.
The night will see additional support from Grimes Dairy Equipment, who will be the presenting sponsor of the Donath Motor Worx dash on Friday.
For the first time in recent memory, Jordan Poirier is not a the top of the point standings as the tour heads into its final stretch of the season. Zach Sobotka currently holds a 82 point lead over Poirier, wile Davie Franek is in third just 31 points behind Poirier. 2026 Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour champion Jordan Thomas is fourth in the overall standings, while Matt Tanner rounds out the top five.
Of the top three drivers, neither Sobotka or Poirier have a 360 sprint car win at Outlaw, though Sobotka has a fifth and fourth in two tries this season, and Poirier has a second and third place finish in as many attempts. With Franek being a multi-time winner at the track, the race at the top of the standings will be wide open as each driver has proven they can run up front here.
Pit gates are set to open at 4pm Friday, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm and action getting underway at 6:45pm. General admission is set at $25, with kids 12 and under free. Pit admission will be $48. A nightly schedule of events will be available on the Empire Super Sprints social media pages prior to action on Friday.

After chasing Davie Franek down through the midpoint of the race, Zimbardi took the lead with 7 laps to go and didn’t look back, scoring $4,011 in the process.
