ESS Points Finale This Friday at Fulton Speedway

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | A champion is set to be decided this weekend for the Empire Super Sprints at the Fulton Speedway. A long season culminates with the points finale this Friday as part of the Outlaw 200 weekend, with the winner of the event receiving $2,000.

Zach Sobotka heads into the event with the point lead over Jordan Poirier. The margin between Sobotka and the defending champion is 82 points. While the two are identical in top five finishes, Sobotka’s margin comes from three wins versus Poirier’s winless season thus far, and 19 top tens versus Poirier’s 17 top ten finishes.

Behind the lead duo, Davie Franek sits third in points just 31 markers back, with already-crowned 2026 Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour champion Jordan Thomas in fourth. Matt Tanner rounds out the top five.

In the only stop at the Fulton Speedway so far this season it was Larry Wight in victory lane. With two rain outs this season at the Oswego County oval, it is unusual for the tour to have only made one appearance at the track by the season ending event.

Fulton has been the host of 94 Empire Super Sprints events, dating back to August of 1983. In those 94 events, there have been 35 different drivers to earn an A-Main win. Of the top three in points, just Davie Franek (2022, 2024) and Jordan Poirier (2018) have won at the highbanks.

Admission prices and gate times for Friday’s event, along with a nightly schedule of events can be found on both the Fulton Speedway website and social media pages, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. In the event of weather on Friday, Saturday is a listed rain date for the season points finale.

For the latest news, information, and schedule updates regarding the Empire Super Sprints be sure to check the series website (www.empiresupersprints.com) and follow along on Facebook (Empire Super Sprints), X (@ESSprints) and Instagram (@empiresupersprints).

$4,011 to Win Outlaw Fall Nationals Next for Empire Super Sprints

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | As the 2026 season winds down, there are just two points-paying events left on the Empire Super Sprints calendar. The first one comes this Friday at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the annual Outlaw Fall Nationals.

Paying $4,011 to win and $300, the Outlaw Fall Nationals is always one of the biggest shows of the season. In two previous visits to the Dundee oval in 2026, Davie Franek (July) and Jordan Hutton (April) came out victorious. It was Hutton’s first 360 sprint car win, and Franek’s fourth ESS win at Outlaw.

The night will see additional support from Grimes Dairy Equipment, who will be the presenting sponsor of the Donath Motor Worx dash on Friday.

For the first time in recent memory, Jordan Poirier is not a the top of the point standings as the tour heads into its final stretch of the season. Zach Sobotka currently holds a 82 point lead over Poirier, wile Davie Franek is in third just 31 points behind Poirier. 2026 Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour champion Jordan Thomas is fourth in the overall standings, while Matt Tanner rounds out the top five.

Of the top three drivers, neither Sobotka or Poirier have a 360 sprint car win at Outlaw, though Sobotka has a fifth and fourth in two tries this season, and Poirier has a second and third place finish in as many attempts. With Franek being a multi-time winner at the track, the race at the top of the standings will be wide open as each driver has proven they can run up front here.

Pit gates are set to open at 4pm Friday, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm and action getting underway at 6:45pm. General admission is set at $25, with kids 12 and under free. Pit admission will be $48. A nightly schedule of events will be available on the Empire Super Sprints social media pages prior to action on Friday.

The ESS Road Ahead:

Friday, October 2 – Fulton Speedway – Fulton, NY ($2,000 to Win Outlaw 200 Weekend)

Friday, October 16 – Outlaw Speedway – Dundee, NY ($4,000 to Win Hoag Memorial – No Points)

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | With one of the biggest weekends of the season now in the rearview mirror, there is no rest for the Empire Super Sprints as the tour is back in action this Friday. Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY is set to host their first (and second) tour event of the season.

After rain shortened the program to kick off the CNY Speedweek event at Can-Am on July 1, the remainder of the event is set to be completed prior to the regularly scheduled night of action. Left on the docket from the July 1 program is the dash, B-Main, and A-Main. The night will see extra support from Cooks Family Diner, who will present the Donath Motor Worx Dash.

The last time the tour completed a feature in the north country, it was August of 2025 when Shawn Donath ended the night on the front stretch in victory lane. Dylan Swierink also won at the track in 2025, picking up the CNY Speedweek win.

With just a handful of points paying races remaining on the 2026 calendar, the battle at the top is as close as ever. Following last weekends tripleheader, Zach Sobotka is the new tour points leader with 1863 points – a 42 point advantage over defending champion Jordan Poirier in second. Davie Franek currently sits third, while Jordan Thomas and Jason Barney round out the top five.

Labor Day Tripleheader on Tap for Empire Super Sprints

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Brewerton, NY) | Labor Day weekend is upon us, and as such is a three day race weekend for the Empire Super Sprints. Friday and Saturday will see stops at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways, respectively. On Sunday, the tour will head down the thru-way for the highest paying full points event of the season at Utica-Rome Speedway – the $10,000 to win, $500 to start Cole Cup.

Earlier this season, Dylan Swiernik (May) and Larry Wight (July) graced Brewerton Speedway victory lane when the Empire Super Sprints were in town. Through two scheduled events at the Fulton Speedway, the Empire Super Sprints have yet to turn a lap there as Mother Nature was victorious on both occasions. Last season, however, Joe Trenca found himself in victory lane in the tours most recent stop back on October 3.

Sunday’s event at Utica-Rome is the second of two scheduled stops in Vernon, NY. Back on July 2^nd, it was again Dylan Swiernik who found himself in victory lane for the $2,500 to win ESS CNY Speedweek event. As this is the 10^th running of the Cole Cup, a great field of cars is expected to compete for the $10,000 top prize.

With the CRSA 305 sprints also on the card, Sunday will be a sprint car fans dream. A bonus is also on the line – any competitor that wins both the CRSA A-Main ($3,000) and the ESS A-Main ($10,000) will also earn an extra $5,000 – bringing the total to $18,000! If no one wins both features, a $2,000 point fund will be awarded to the top three drivers that run both features. Drivers will have to bring two separate cars if they want to run both divisions.

As with each ESS event, additional sponsorship helps to make a night of racing a success. Friday’s Donath Motor Worx Dash will be presented by Jakes Grub & Grog, while Saturday’s will be presented by East Coast Sealcoat. Sunday’s Dash at Utica Rome will be run in memory of Tom Patterson.

For gate times, admission prices and a nightly run of events, please visit each tracks website and social pages, along with the Empire Super Sprints social pages. Fans unable to make it to the track can also tune in to FloRacing on Sunday to catch all of the action from Utica-Rome live.

The ESS Road Ahead:

Saturday, September 5 – Fulton Speedway – Fulton, NY ($2,000 to Win)

Sunday, September 6 – Utica-Rome Speedway – Vernon, NY ($10,000 to Win Cole Cup)

Empire Super Sprints Quebec Swing Up Next

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Oswego, NY) | Dating back to 1994, the Empire Super Sprints have traditionally made at least one trip per season to the Province of Quebec, and 2026 is no different. This Friday, the tour will visit Autodrome Granby in Granby, QC and on Saturday stop at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC. Both races will pay $3,000 to win and $500 to start.

The visit to Quebec will be the last two stops in the 2026 version of the Transport Benoit Lafleur Canadian Tour. After winning the last Canadian Tour event two Sundays ago at Cornwall, Jordan Thomas currently holds the point lead over Zach Sobotka and Jordan Poirier.

In overall championship standings, it is perennial champion Jordan Poirier with the edge on the field. Zach Sobotka is currently second in the overall standings as well, with Davie Franek third, Jordan Thomas fourth and Jason Barney rounding out the top five.

With one trip to both Granby and Drummond last season, Alex Therrien (Granby) and Dylan Swiernik (Drummond) both sat in victory lane. It was both drivers first win at each track, and both will look to repeat their success this weekend.

ESS Canada Tour Continues With Doubleheader at Brockville and Cornwall

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Brockville, ONT) | For the first time since June, the Empire Super Sprints return to Canada this weekend for another Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour doubleheader. Saturday, the tour makes its second of two stops at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, while Sunday will also be the second of two stops at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. Bonus money has been added to the purse of this weekends events, with both Brockville and Cornwall now paying $500 to start the A-Main!

Earlier this season, it was Alex Therrien (Brockville) and Davie Franek (Cornwall) who picked up wins at the two Ontario tracks. While it was Therrien’s first win at Brockville, Franek has now seen success at both tracks, having also won at Brockville back in 2024.

With just a handful of races remaining in the Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour, it is Jordan Thomas atop the miniseries point standings. Though he has no wins north of the border thus far in 2026, he holds a 26-point lead over Zach Sobotka, who won at Brighton earlier this season.

Canadian Jordan Poirier is currently third, while Franek and Therrien round out the top five. Poirier has also seen victory lane at Brockville (2025) and Cornwall (2017, 2025) and he will look to build on his prior success at those tracks this weekend to improve his rank in the miniseries, along with maintaining his lead in the overall championship standings.

Information for this weekends events including admission prices, gate times and nightly event schedules can be found on both tracks’ social media pages and websites, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. Competitors are reminded that the digital waiver to get in the pits at Brockville must be completed prior to entry on Saturday – it can be found on their website (www.brockvillespeedway.com).

$4,011 to Win Outlaw Summer Nationals Next for Empire Super Sprints

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | One of the biggest nights of sprint car racing in New York is set to hit the track on Friday night at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. The Empire Super Sprints will be competing in the annual Outlaw Summer Nationals, an event that will pay $4,011 to the winner.

Also on the card for the night will be the CRSA 305 sprints, competing for a $2,011 top prize. Over the past few seasons, there has been an increased number of drivers competing simultaneously in the 305 and 360 ranks in the northeast, and as such a bonus has been put up – if a driver is to win both the 360 and 305 A-Main on Friday night, they will take home an extra $5,000. That means one drive could potentially leave Dundee with an $11,022 payday.

In one previous Empire Super Sprints A-Main held at Outlaw this season, Jordan Hutton was victorious. He picked up $4,220 with his victory in the Outlaw Spring Nationals back on April 24. Hutton will look to repeat his early season success in Dundee in chase of the bonus money this weekend – he also has won at the track in a 305 (August, 2025).

With the season now in its mid-summer stretch, Jordan Poirier still sits atop the standings with a 36 point lead over Zach Sobotka. Perennial Outlaw Speedway favorite Davie Franek is currently third, with Jordan Thomas and Jason Barney rounding out the top five. While Poirier hopes to make 2026 a fifth-straight championship season, the battle is far from over with 12 A-Mains having been completed thus far, and 12 left to be completed on the schedule.

The Donath Motor Worx Dash will be presented by Lanes Yamaha this Friday. Located just over the hill from the Outlaw Speedway in Watkins Glen, Lanes Yamaha has been a longtime supporter of both the Outlaw Speedway and Empire Super Sprints.

For more information on this weekends event, including gate times, prices and a nightly schedule of events, please visit the Outlaw Speedway website and social media pages, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. Fonda, Albany-Saratoga Next for Empire Super Sprints

ESS Sprints Media-2026

By Curtis Berleue (Malta, NY) | With the 2026 version of the Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek now in the rearview mirror, the series will hit the track again this weekend for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader. Friday, the tour heads to the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, while Saturday will be a stop at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY.

Defending champion Jordan Poirier maintains a 17-point lead over Zach Sobotka heading into the weekend. While he has yet to win a race thus far in 2026, Poirier’s 8- top fives and 10-top tens have him with a slight advantage over Sobotka, who enters the weekend with two wins on the season, tied for the most thus far with Dylan Swiernik, Alex Therrien and Larry Wight.

History is on Poirier’s side to pick up a win, as he has two wins at Albany-Saratoga, including last summers event. At Fonda last season, it was Danny Varin in victory lane. Varin extended his impressive streak of wins at the ½ mile oval, having now won ten of the last eleven ESS events held there. The only driver that kept Varin from a perfect eleven for eleven was Shawn Donath in May of 2023, when he held off Varin for the win.

Of note, Saturdays event at Fonda is the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial. Earl Halaquist Memorial was one of the most accomplished sprint car drivers in the Northeast in his time. Competing across NY, NJ, PA, VA, NC, MD VT, Canada and more, Halaquist amassed 53 URC wins and six championships. Halaquist, a World War II veteran, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA in 2000 before his passing in 2001.

This weekends Donath Motor Worx Dash Series events will have additional support from We Know Tools – Paul Wehnau’s Snap-on Tools on Friday at Albany Saratoga as the presenting sponsor, and One Zee Tee’s on Saturday at Fonda as the presenting sponsor.

Pricing, gate times and nightly event schedules for each night this weekend can be found both on each tracks websites/social media pages, and the Empire Super Sprints social media pages.

The ESS Road Ahead:

Friday, July 17 – Albany-Saratoga Speedway – Malta, NY ($2,000 to Win)

Saturday, July 18 – Fonda Speedway – Fulton, NY ($2,000 to Win Earl Halaquist Memorial)

Friday, July 31 – Outlaw Speedway – Dundee, NY ($4,000 to Win Outlaw Summer Nationals)

Saturday, the tour crosses over the border into Canada for the first of two scheduled visits to the Brockville Ontario Speedway. The final leg of the tripleheader will be Sunday, when the tour moves an hour further north to the Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, Ontario. Similar to Brockville, the Empire Super Sprints are scheduled to make two appearances in Cornwall in 2026, with the second scheduled for later this year in August. Last season, it was Jordan Poirier picking up the win. He now has two victories and will be looking for his third on Sunday to tie his uncle Steve (Poirier) for the most ESS wins at the Ontario bullring.
