Poirier Wins Points Finale at Fulton

By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | Jordan Poirier has been close to victory lane many times throughout the 2026 season, and finally put it all together on Friday at the Fulton Speedway. Coming into the night, the Quebec driver had 13 top five finishes, and he added a win to those stats by picking up the $2,000 check on the final points-paying night of the season.

Jordan Thomas led the field to green along side of Paulie Colagiovanni. Thomas grabbed the lead early, but Colagiovanni got a run off turn two and immediately took control of the field. Jordan Poirier wasted no time moving forward, also getting by Thomas for second on lap two.

Colagiovanni would open up a half straightaway lead over Poirier and Thomas. Behind the top three, Jordan Hutton had worked his way to fourth using the extreme high side of the speedway.

On lap 13, Poirier had caught Colagiovanni, and the race for the lead was on. A slide job attempt in turn two was unsuccessful, but two laps later lap traffic would hold up Colagiovanni. Poirier took the opportunity using the low lane off turn four to take the lead.

Poirier immediately opened up a lead of over one second over Colagiovanni. As Poirier continued to drive away, Danny Varin had worked his way through the field and slid Colagiovanni for second with a handful of laps remaining.

Out front, Poirier was out for a Sunday drive, and picked up his first Empire Super Spritns victory of 2026.

“It feels good – a little late but I’ll take it,” said Poirier in victory lane. “We’ve been struggling all year long, we’ve been testing stuff. It feels good to finally win one here.”

“I think it’s been ten years since on the last one here. Our GSR chassis was just on rails.”

Danny Varin came home second, while Paulie Colagiovanni rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Zach Sobotka picked up the season points championship, a massive feat considering it was just his first year following the entire ESS schedule.

With 27 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Chris Hulsizer, Dylan Swiernik and Jordan Poirier. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Dalton Rombough, Paulie Colagiovanni and Alex Therrien. Jason Barney picked up the Donath Motor Worx dash presented by East Coast Sealcoat, and Chad Phelps won the B-Main.

There is just one race remaining on the Empire Super Sprints schedule for 2026 – the Hoag Memorial at the Outlaw Speedway on Friday October 16. The event is a non-points race that will pay $4,000 to win. Zimbardi Pockets $4,011 in Outlaw Fall Nationals

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | For the first time in over two years, Jared Zimbardi found himself in victory lane Friday night at the Outlaw Speedway. After chasing Davie Franek down through the midpoint of the race, Zimbardi took the lead with 7 laps to go and didn’t look back, scoring $4,011 in the process.

Denny Peebles and Shawn Donath led the field to green for 25 laps, with Peebles taking the lead over Donath and Davie Franek on lap one. Franek made quick work of Donath, and by lap six he passed Peebles for the lead.

As the field reached lap traffic, an incident on the front stretch collected three of the top five, with Peebles, Donath and Dylan Swiernik all involved.

When action resumed, Franek again jumped out to the lead. Jason Barney got by Jared Zimbardi, for second, with Zimbardi falling into line in third.

Zimbardi quickly got back by Barney for the runner-up position, and then set his sights on Franek. By lap 15, he had caught the leader, and on lap 16 took the lead.

Zimbardi initially extended the gap between himself and Franek, though in the closing stages Franek was able to cut into his lead.

With Zimbardi successfully navigating lap traffic, Franek was unable to get back by and ‘The Juice’ held on for his first win since 2024.

“This one feels good,” said Zimbardi in victory lane. “I’ve just been struggling for a while. I just kept digging, didn’t give up hope. We’ve got different shocks on tonight.”

“It’s actually something we did a long time ago with the right rear shock and we won a lot of races with it. We did it tonight and it was fast.”

Davie Franek held on for second, continuing his streak of good finishes at Outlaw.

“After the red, I don’t know what was going on there, the tire sealed over or something,” said Franek. “He (Zimbardi) was good, he was going to get us either way. We were kind of getting back to him in lap traffic, but out in clean air he was definitely better.”

Matt Farnham rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third.

“The car was really good, it was fast early on in the night,” said Farnham. “We got lucky a couple of times missing the wreck on the front straightaway. On that restart, we lost a couple of spots but was able to get them back and have a good run here tonight.”

With 23 cars in the pit area Friday, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Matt Farnham, Davie Franek and Jordan Thomas. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Jordan Poirier, Davie Franek and Jared Zimbardi, while Jason Barney won the Donath Motor Worx Dash in memory of Bob ‘Bub’ Thomas.

The Empire Super Sprints have two events remaining on the 2026 schedule. This coming Friday will be the points finale at Fulton Speedway for the Outlaw 200 weekend, while the season will conclude back at Outlaw on Friday October 16 for a non-points affair. SHERIDAN WINS IN THE 22ND EDITION OF NORTHERN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS AT OHSWEKEN

ESS Sprints Results26

OHSWEKEN, Ont. (September 19, 2026) – Nitro 54, Sit ‘N’ Bull Tires, and Arrow Express presented the 22nd Running of the Northern Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway on Saturday; Nick Sheridan took the $20,000 A-Main win for the 360 Sprint Cars, while Mack DeMan won in the Action Sprint Tour A-Main.

Northern Sprint Car Nationals 360 Sprint Cars
New Jersey visitor Davie Franek and New York visitor Dylan Swiernik earned front row starting positions for the 35 lap Northern Sprint Car Nationals 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Franek took the early lead over the stout field. Two time NSCN Champion Parker Price Miller hit the inside wall of turn two on lap nine, bringing out the caution as he came to a stop.

The 2026 Ohsweken Speedway 360 Champion Dylan Westbrook led not too long after the restart, taking the lead on lap eleven over Franek. Westbrook had a glimpse of glory for a brief moment until last year’s winner, Nick Sheridan rocketed passed by him for the lead on lap fourteen.

Once Sheridan got the lead, he couldn’t be caught. Westbrook tried to chase him down but to no avail. Even a late race restart couldn’t shake Sheridan from the lead. Sheridan drove to his second ever NSCN Championship in back to back years. Josh Hansen passed Westbrook in the closing laps for second, while Westbrook had to settle for a third place finish. Rounding out the top ten were Swiernik in fourth, Franek fifth, Alex Therrien sixth, Matt Farnham seventh, Ryan Turner eighth, Cory Turner ninth, and Scott Kreutter tenth.

THERRIEN & PARKER win Night Before Nationals at Ohsweken

ESS Sprints Results26

360 Sprint Car NSCN Twin 15’s
Dylan Swiernik and Alex Therrien brought the field to the green flag for the first of the Twin 15’s for the 360 Sprint Cars. Swiernik enjoyed his lead until he made a mistake on lap four, driving too high off turn four, allowing Therrien to grab the lead. Swiernik tried to mount a comeback to no avail as Therrien drove away with the clean air, picking up the victory and redemption from where he finished second last year. Rounding out the top five were Dylan Westbrook second, Swiernik third, Jordan Poirier fourth, and Skyler Evans fifth.

The second of the Twin 15’s had Danny Varin and Price Miller Parker on the front row. Varin took off like a rocket leading the opening laps. No one had anything for Varin as he was in front by over five seconds. With three laps to go it looked like Varin was going to lock himself into the big race until he spun out in the lead bringing out the caution. Parker assumed the lead, winning the race in the final laps. Next to finish were Jason Barney in second, DJ Christie third, Davie Franek fourth, and Josh Hansen fifth.

The wins guaranteed Therrien and Parker top ten starting positions in Saturday’s $20,000-to-win Northern Sprint Car Nationals A-Main.

Franek Wins Friday at Can-Am Speedway

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | In a race that saw multiple lead changes due to mechanical failures, it was Davie Franek who came out on top with a last lap, last turn pass on Friday at Can-Am Speedway. Though the New Jersey driver only lead from turn four to the checkered, that was enough to earn him the $2,000 payday for his third win of the season.

Jordan Poirier and Shawn Donath led the field to green for 25 laps, with Poirier taking the lead into turn one. Behind him, Donath settled into second with Dalton Rombough third. Dylan Swiernik made quick work of Rombough, moving into third on lap two.

In front of the field, Poirier was setting a blistering pace, reaching lap traffic in five laps. As he worked on navigating lap cars, Shawn Donath was holding steady in his tracks.

Three laps later, Poirier’s engine began to show smoke. Donath had just gotten past Poirier when the caution flew for fluid being laid on the track by Poirier.

Donath would choose the high side for the ensuing restart, with Swiernik lining up next to him having inherited second. Donath would fend off a slide job from Swiernik to maintain the lead into turn one. Davie Franek passed a handful of cars on the restart and slid into third.

Swiernik was unable to gain on Donath over the next handful of laps as they navigated lap traffic. On lap 19, however, Swiernik got a run into turn three, allowing him a chance at a slide job into turn one, which Donath would again fend off.

With just two laps to go, Donath would meet the same fate as Poirier when his engine expired off turn four.

As Swiernik inherited the lead, Davie Franek lined up alongside him for the restart, with Paulie Colagiovanni in third. Swiernik held the lead using the top side of the speedway, when another yellow flew.

When action resumed, Swiernik again assumed the lead. With one to go, Swiernik looked to have a win locked up until he fell off the pace in turn four, handing the lead and the victory to Davie Franek.

“I was going down the backstretch thinking I had to try a slider here, he was pretty far out,” said Franek in victory lane. “And then I saw him kind of slow up a little bit – I think he ran out of fuel or something.”

“We had to build a new car a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve kinda been struggling a little bit, but then we caught on to it and Brian’s been doing a great job. You’ve gotta have all of the pieces together.”

Paulie Colagiovanni finished second, also leapfrogging Swiernik off turn four.

“The track was a little tricky, I was getting plowed on restarts,” said Colagiovanni. “He (Franek) would just clear a whole row of cars and then it was follow the leader. On long runs we were, good, I think we were just as fast as him.”

Alex Therrien would round out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third.

“I started eighth, so I tried my best but it was tough,” said Therrien. “We had a lot of yellows, so we tried to play with my wing to have a better car, I tried my best.”

22 cars signed into the pits on Friday night, dividing the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Shawn Donath, Jordan Hutton and Dalton Rombough, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek, Jordan Hutton and Dalton Rombough. The Donath Motor Worx dash presented by Cook’s Family Diner was won by Jordan Hutton.

Rombough Wins ESS Make-Up Feature at Can-Am

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | After waiting nearly two and a half months to complete what he started, Dalton Rombough is an Empire Super Sprints winner. After rain postponed the A-Main of the $2,500 to win ESS CNY Speedweek event at Can-Am, the remainder of the program was completed on Friday September 11. Rombough earned his first Empire Super Sprints victory on dirt, having won previously on Asphalt in the non-points Kevin Ward Jr. Memorial event at Evans Mills.

Alex Therrien led the field to green, with Dylan Swiernik to his outside. Therrien grabbed the lead off turn two, but he had to fend off a slide job from Swiernik in three and four. Jordan Thomas dropped into third, with Jordan Poirier and Zach Sobotka completing the top five.

A lap two restart again saw Therrien take the lead over Swiernik and Poirier. Swiernik was not to be denied, though, as he took the lead on the extreme top side just two corners later.

The top three remained close enough to throw a blanket over for the next handful of laps. Poirier was able to get by Therrien on lap nine, but Therrien took it right back.

Another restart on lap 10 this time saw Jordan Thomas come from fourth to the lead off of turn two utilizing the extreme high side of the speedway. He would immediately open up a 10 car-length advantage over Swiernik and Poirier.

Behind the leaders, Dalton Rombough had quietly worked into the top five from his 13^th starting position. By lap 19, he had gotten by Swiernik for third.

While Thomas had opened up a two-second lead, Rombough set his eyes on Poirier, and made his way into second just two laps later.

In just a lap, Rombough cut Thomas’ lead in half, and with one to go, was close enough to attack off turn two. Thomas was unable to fight back, and Rombough would cross the finish line first for his first ESS win on dirt.

“We had a good car earlier tonight and I think I just over adjusted for the feature,” said Rombough in victory lane. “This one I just didn’t second guess myself, and we got her here.”

“I saw it was two to go and I just put it right to the floorboard, it was what it was at that point. Luckily, I got to him before the last corner and he didn’t see me coming.”

Jordan Thomas finished second after leading the second half of the A-Main.

“I figured somebody would be coming there late,” said Thomas. “The way the night started, the engine was running on seven cylinders but we got it figured out for the first feature.”

Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third.

“Hats off to all my team,” said Poirier. “We changed everything, the second car wasn’t ready so we had to change the whole rear end, bird cage, everything.

“My car was good in the middle, we missed a few things we could have changed inside the cockpit. A third place like that with a car we just put together 15 minutes ago, I’ll take that.”

30 cars signed into the pits on July 1 before the rain came, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Shawn Donath, Jordan Hutton and Danny Varin earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards, while Jordan Poirier, Jordan Thomas and Dale Curran won Elab Smokers Boutique heat races. 17 cars returned to finish the program on Friday September 11, so the B-Main and Dash were not completed.

DJ Christie Wins $10,000 Cole Cup at Utica Rome

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (Vernon, NY) | DJ Christie made the long tow from north of the border worth the trip as he led every lap of the longest and highest paying race on the Empire Super Sprints schedule Sunday night. Christie’s dominating win leading all 40 laps of the Cole Cup was worth $10,000.

DJ Christie and Larry Wight led the field to green, with Christie taking the lead over Danny Varin and Larry Wight.

Behind the leaders, Davie Franek went from seventh to fourth on lap one, and then got by Wight to crack the top three just one lap later.

As the top four maintained position, Sammy Reakes and Zach Sobotka battled for the fifth spot behind them. Sobotka would eventually come out ahead, taking sole position of the spot.

The first yellow of the event came out on lap 7 as Jeff Trombley clipped an infield tire in turn four, spinning just in front of the leaders.

On the ensuing restart, Christie again took the lead with Wight grabbing second from Varin, though it was short lived as another caution flew before a lap could be completed.

With the field reset, Wight again was able to catapult forward, though this time he only got by Franek to take third.

In front of the field, Christie was working masterfully through lap traffic when the caution flew on lap 20 for Jordan Thomas slowing on the track. The break would serve as the competition red for fuel as well.

When action resumed Christie again set sail out front, bringing Wight with him as he slipped under Varin for the second spot. While Christie opened up a multiple second gap over Wight in clean air, the advantage was erased when he reached lap traffic.

Wight had cut the lead to around a half second with five laps to go, but would not get any closer as Christie led wire-to-wire, picking up his first ESS win of the season.

“That was wild, what a race,” exclaimed Christie in victory lane. “40 laps is a long time, I don’t think I’ve ever done a race that long, I’m a little out of breath.”

“Honestly, I didn’t even see the white flag, I just saw the checkers. I had no idea where the rest of the field was, I was just doing my best to pick off the lap cars.”

Larry Wight continued his run of podiums on the weekend, finishing second.

“The lap cars were tough,” said Wight. “You’d think they were going to hold the bottom, and then they’d slide up. I just misjudged a couple of them and let the five car get out on us.”

Danny Varin rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third.

“After this weekend, this was a great run for the team to try to build some momentum,” said Varin. “I feel like we had something there at the end, like the last five laps but I just can’t restart. Hats off to them (Christie and Wight), Larry’s been the show this weekend and that five car was bad fast tonight.”

With 32 cars signed in, the field was split into four timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Danny Varin, Dalton Rombough, DJ Christie and Larry Wight. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Danny Vain, Dylan Swiernik, DJ Christie and Larry Wight. The Donath Motor Worx Dash in memory of Tom Patterson was won by Davie Franek, while Jordan Thomas won the B-Main.

Wight Doubles Up, Wins Second of Weekend at Fulton

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | For the second time in two nights, Larry Wight’s #99L was parked in Empire Super Sprints victory lane. After winning Friday at Brewerton, Wight made it two for two on the weekend, picking up another $2,000 on Saturday at the Fulton Speedway.

Jeremy Lafleur and Larry Wight paced the field to green, with Wight jumping out to the lead. Lafleur settled into second, with Paulie Colagiovanni third, Davie Franek fourth and Tyler Graves fifth.

Just five laps in, Colagiovanni was able to get past the #24 of Lafleur to take the second spot. Two laps later, Franek made his way past Lafleur as well, moving to a podium position.

By lap 16, however, eighth starting Jordan Thomas had made his way well into the top five, and made a bid to get by Franek for third. As the laps wound down, it didn’t look as though Colagiovanni nor Thomas would have anything for Wight, who had led since the drop of the green.

Wight would indeed hold on, and score his second win in as many nights with the Empire Super Sprints. Colagiovanni came home second, and Jordan Thomas rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Jason Barney finished fourth, and Dylan Swiernik would complete the top five.

With 28 cars in the pits on Saturday, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik and Paulie Colagiovanni, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik and Paulie Colagiovanni. The Donath Motor Worx Dash presented by East Coast Sealcoat was won by Joe Trenca, and the B-Main went to Sammy Reakes IV.

Wight Wins at Brewerton with Empire Super Sprints

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (Brewerton, NY) | For the second time at Brewerton Speedway and third time in 2026, Larry Wight is an Empire Super Sprints feature winner. After charging to the front from his 7^th starting position, Wight led the final 10 laps en route to a $2,000 pay day.

Davie Franek led the field to green alongside of Billy VanInwegen, and Franek would take the top spot early over VanInwegen and Sammy Reakes IV.

Larry Wight made quick work of Reakes, entering the top three on lap two. The top three would remain unchanged until lap 13, when Wight got by VanInwegen to take second.

Just four laps later on lap 17, Wight was able to make his way past Franek to take the lead. He would almost immediately put over a second gap between himself and Franek.

Behind the lead duo, Dylan Swiernik had quietly worked his way to fourth, and on lap 19 he took a podium spot as he took possession of third place.

With the laps winding down, Franek was unable to catch Wight, who scored his third victory of the season.

“I was able to just settle in, felt what the car was doing, what it wasn’t doing,” said Wight in victory lane.
“Once we got some momentum around the top, the right rear tire started working – it was really good.”

“This car has been a rocket since we brough it out. This engine is just so smooth – its able to get ahold of the track really nice.”

Davie Franek would come home second after leading the first half of the race, with Dylan Swierink rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery top three.

With 24 cars in the pit area, the field was split into three timed hot lap sessions. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Dalton Rombough, Dylan Swiernik and Jeremy Lafleur, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Dalton Rombough, Dylan Swiernik and Sammy Reakes IV. The Donath Motor Worx Dash presented by Jakes Grub and Grog was won by Larry Wight.

Sobotka Wins $3,000 at Autodrome Drummond

ESS Sprints Results26

By Curtis Berleue (Drummondville, QC) | For the third time in 2026, Zach Sobotka ended the night in victory lane, this time in the Province of Quebec at Autodrome Drummond on Saturday night. His victory was his second of the season in the Transport Benoit Lafleur Canada Tour, and worth $3,000 for his efforts.

After drawing the pole, Dalton Rombough jumped out to the lead over the field, with Billy VanInwegen second and Matt Tanner third.

Tanner quickly advanced past VanInwegen to take the runner-up position with VanInwegen falling in line back in third.

The lead trio would remain the same until a lap thirteen incident that saw Tanner inherit the lead. Just two laps later, Zach Sobotka snuck past Tanner to take the lead. Sobotka, who had spent the entirety of the even until that point in fourth, would lead Tanner and VanInwegen.

Through the final eight laps, Sobotka was able to hang on for his second Transport Benoit Lafleur Canadian Tour win of 2026.

“I found the high side there early in one and two,” said Sobotka in victory lane. “I felt like it was good in three and four in the beginning of the race, but I felt like it just kept going away.”

“I just felt like I was spinning up there so I just kept going to the bottom. I figured that after that restart somebody was going to go back around me on the top but it ended up working out.”

Matt Tanner would hold on for third, while Billy VanInwegen rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Jordan Poirier was fourth, and Shawn Donath completed the top five.

With 26 cars in attendance, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jeremy Lafleur, Dalton Rombough and Jordan Thomas. The Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Zach Sobotka, Matt Tanner and Davie Franek.

The weekend will start Friday at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, NY, followed by a trip to the Fulton Speedway in Fulton, NY and finish Sunday night at Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY for the $10,000 to win Cole Cup.
